We did this tour in June of 2010.
We were the last to get picked up and had to sit in the back of the van. Peter didn't use the PA system because he said he couldn't control the volume. We had a hard time hearing him.
We stopped briefly at the Festival Hall, but didn't get out of the van. We thought Peter said to go back on our own to try to see inside. We did go back - only to be told we had to be with a tour to go inside!
"A stroll around the premises of Hellbrunn Palace?" Hardly! We walked from the van straight to the gazebo and straight back to the van. No strolling!
The luge was fun - even if it had nothing to do with the Sound of Music.
We spent way too much time at the restaurant. A four hour tour doesn't need a food stop. The view from the restaurant WAS in the opening scenes of the movie, but a little research revealed that the field by the restaurant is NOT where they filmed the movie picnic scene - that was filmed in Werfen. Why did you tell us that was the picnic spot when it wasn't????
We would have loved to have received, as part of the tour, a map of movie locations that weren't part of the tour - for example, the different places in Mirabell Gardens, the archway where the real Maria had a cameo walk by, and Winkler Terrace where the Do-Re-Mi song starts.
I'm glad we did the tour - we saw many sights we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise - but please use the PA, shorten or cut out the restaurant stop, and consider providing a map.
