Experience the magic of one of the most successful movies of all time – The Sound of Music. Released in 1965,
this film has touched hearts around the world. Let us take you to the original filming locations and share
fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the movie and the real Von Trapp Family.
We will arrive at the unforgettable lakeside town of Hallstatt in the early afternoon.
This absolutely enchanting village is situated in the middle of the Hallstatt-Dachstein area,
a region of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. You will have time stroll through the village
and learn about it's fascinating history and local peculiarities before heading back to Salzburg.
This tour includes:
- A short city tour focusing on The Sound of Music, approximately 45 minutes of walking and driving in Salzburg's Old Town.
- A stop at the magnificent Palace of Leopoldskron – one of the two mansions used as the Von Trapp home and the place where the children famously fell into the lake.
- A stop at Hellbrunn Palace, including a visit to the famous Gazebo.
- A drive through picturesque countryside as we make our way to the Salzkammergut/Lake District.
- Stop at the viewing point above St. Gilgen with a gorgeous view over the Wolfgangsee (lake Wolfgang).
- 2 – 2.5 hour stop in Hallstatt which you can use to walk through the village, have lunch and a coffee .
- A visit to the parish church of Mondsee – walk down the aisle of the iconic Sound of Music Wedding Church plus a bit of extra time to spend on your own.
Important Information:
- The tour is limited to a maximum of 19 people.
- Meeting point: at 8:30 am or 1:30 pm at Rudolfskai 38, 5020 Salzburg.
- The tour is conducted in either a 8-seater minivan or a 19-seater bus.
- Duration: approx. 8 hours
- Departure: daily at 9:00 am
- Ending point: 6:00pm at Mirabell Gardens
Additional information:
- The original Von Trapp villa cannot be visited as it is privately owned by the church.
- Schloss Leopoldskron can only be viewed from across the Leopoldskroner Weiher (pond) as it operates as a private hotel.
- In Hallstatt there is not enough time to do the Salt Mines.
